Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club PDF Print E-mail
In October of 1996 a group of Great Pyrenees enthusiasts began the Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club, Inc.

The Charter members of the Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club, Inc., were primarily Great Pyrenees friends and fellow dog show exhibitors. In a Pizza Parlor gathered at a table were the founding Charter Members of the Club, Pam and Jim Tobin, Jeff and Moya Lateer, Bette Hall, Brenda and Mark Cornell, Roland and Christina Trinka, and Helen Woodbury.

The members were motivated by great ideas and a common interest in the desire to bring a new Club to life. This new Club would have social roots buried deep within the solid admiration and adoration of the Great Pyrenees breed, thus a new Club was born.

Charter member, Brenda Cornell authored the Sierra Pacific Great Pyrenees Club Creed. “We the owners and breeders of the Great Pyrenees unite together to form Sierra Great Pyrenees Club as one family equal and unified in purpose and conviction dedicated to do nothing out of selfish ambition, but always to preserve, protect, promote, and edify the breed of the Great Pyrenees and the people who love them.”

Jeff Later suggested the name “Sierra Pacific” for the Club. It was determined that based on the number of local enthusiasts in the Sacramento area, there were many potential club members to support a local chapter/club. Our breed Club is independently licensed with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and we are an affiliated member of the Great Pyrenees Club of America (the National Club).

Our membership includes many Great Pyrenees owners of all ages and backgrounds--pet owners, livestock guardian owners, conformation, obedience, carting and agility exhibitors, breed enthusiasts, breeders, and others who have maintained an interest in the breed over many years. Several members have a great deal of expertise in the history and development of our noble breed.

At one time, we were all beginners with our first Great Pyrenees. Our club is here to help with information and assistance, when such needs arise. Our Club is incorporated as a non-profit organization in the great state of California and is an IRS tax exempt organization under code 501(C) 3.
