 Dillon
Sad Dillon  They say that you never own a Great Pyrenees; They Own You! Never has this been more true than with our Dillon. Dillon's original owners stuck him in a field and forgot him. He was snake bitten, had foxtails in his ears and feet and was so filthy he looked like a Chocolate Lab. Dillon was very gentle and timid but he had no confidence and no trust of humans. But, knowing that a Pyr’s eyes will tell you everything; we saw what Michelangelo saw in the big piece of stone that entrapped “The David”. Only ours was going to have 4 paws and a tail. Dillon was a masterpiece waiting to come out.
After months of working with him in rescue he decided he was adopting us. He hid when other prospective families came to see him. He froze like a statue when others tried to walk him. However with Francesca and me he met us at the kennel door and just wanted to cuddle; so home he came for a trial visit with our other 3 dogs and our cat.  He never left. He knew before we knew.  Now he is learning to trust, relax and play with toys like the 2 year old he is.

Jasmine

Jasmine the Great Pyrenees at 4 months old

Lizzie came to rescue as part of a litter of 6 pups that were turned into rescue in San Bernardino. She was about 2 1/2 months old and was adopted out at 5 months. Lizzie is shown here in front with sister Pheobe in back.
Jasmine at 2 years old

Lizzie is now Jasmine and lives in Sacramento, CA with 3 cats, another Pyr, a human puppy and her mom and dad. She is 2 years old here and is shown with her buddy Charlie. She enjoys bananas and sleeping on the tile. She is an absolute sweetheart and is the epitome of all a Pyr should be!

Miley

When Miley came into rescue she had horrific injuries. It is believed that she was used as bait for dog fighting as her ears and tail had been cut off and she had a 6" long and 6" deep stab wound along her rib cage. It took 3 hours of surgery and months of nursing her back to health before Miley was whole again.
Miley never left; but did find a home with Pam and Jim Tobin. Today she is a happy part of the family and enjoys all the luxuries of a spoiled pup. While her physical scars remain, Miley is a happy and well adjusted family dog who loves attention, other dogs and of course ice cream!

Ella
Sad_Ella We received and urgent call from a gal about 2 hours away. “We found this big white dog roaming around the field and it appears to be abandoned. We are going on vacation tomorrow so we will keep it until then and then tie it to a tree if you want to come get it. It is not too friendly”. So, when we arrived “she” was in the callers house. Ella had eyes that looked right through you. One kind word and she jumped into our arms and wanted to hug. She was scared, hungry and very lonely. She came out to the car, jumped in the back, went to sleep and slept all the way to Sacramento. Before we could even get her into the kennels a family who was out looking at other rescue dogs saw her and wanted her. She was placed and had a good home until the family fell on hard times.

Ella

When Francesca and I heard she was coming back it took less than a second to realize she was not going anywhere except to our house. Ella fit in with our family immediately and is now a registered therapy dog. She and Dillon are best friends and she loves to give nose kisses to everyone she meets.
Polar
Polar on couch Polar has been with us for almost 4 months now, and things are going great. He has settled in to life with our family quite well. He has started to fill out a little more and his weight is currently at 113 lbs.
We attended Obedience training and completed the 7 week beginning class in March. We are currently in the middle of the Intermediate class. As you can imagine, Polar is the "king" of the class, but is doing very well.
We walk polar about 5 days a week for about a mile. On the weekends, we walk Polar a mile to the dog park where he socializes with many other dogs. He has a sweet temperament and gets along with most of them. After the park, we trek another mile home.
Last Friday, Polar had his first "spa day" at the groomers, who were highly impressed with him (He looks like a French Supermodel).
We wanted to thank you again for allowing us to adopt Polar and assure you that Polar has a good home with a family that loves him dearly.
Junoe
Pic Coming Soon! Junoe has made a tremendous difference in our home,  our older daughter, Mary who suffers from high functioning autism and Tourette's Syndrom has not had a single outburst since Junoe came to live with us.  We marvel at the calming effect Junoe has had on Mary.  Mary will come up to her and just throw her arms around Junoe and hug her, Junoe just sits there absorbing all of the love and calming Mary.  It is absolutely wonderful.  Junoe has also been getting massive loves from both Ruth and me.  She will sit in front of one of us and put her paw up on our leg until she gets a rub behind her ears, then the rub has to continue and continue and continue.  Finally she will leave who ever has been rubbing her ears and head and go to the other person and repeat the paw sign. Junoe has also come quite a way out of her  moroseness and sadness. Her sad face has begun to turn into what looks like a dog smile. Thank you again for Junoe, our fifth family member.
